Irish America is pleased to announce John Saunders, president and CEO of FleishmanHillard, as Keynote Speaker at the 2016 Irish America Business 100 Awards Luncheon to be held on Wednesday, December 7 at the Metropolitan Club of New York.
Since 1985, the Irish America Business 100 recognizes the top business professionals from all industries for their extraordinary impact and innovative contributions to the corporate climate in the U.S. and abroad. Ranging from Irish-born entrepreneurs to fifth-generation Irish Americans, the honorees are united in their shared passion for their heritage and acknowledgement of the influence their Irish antecedents in their daily lives.
Born in Ireland, Saunders began his career as a journalist at RTÉ. In 1990, he founded FleishmanHillard Saunders and helped it develop into Ireland’s largest and most successful public relations consultancy, earning more awards than any other firm during his tenure. Prior to his appointment as president and CEO of FleishmanHillard, he served as regional president for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for four years.
Saunders is only the fourth individual to hold his current title in FleishmanHillard’s 70-year history. In 2007, he was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Public Relations Institution of Ireland, and was inducted into the ICCI Hall of Fame in 2011.
A native of Dublin, Saunders has been married to his wife, Jean, for 36 years. Together they have three children, Colin, Caroline and Hannah, and one granddaughter, Matilda. He currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri.
The complete 2016 Irish America Business 100 list will be published in the December / January 2017 edition of Irish America, which will also feature a cover interview with Saunders. The 2015 Business 100 list can be viewed online here. ♦
