When thinking of the ultimate travel destination for New Year’s Eve, Ireland may not immediately come to mind. However, from Dublin to Dingle, options for ringing in 2016 range from the more traditional dancing and fireworks to listening to the beats of one of the 90s’ hottest D.J.s and maybe even breaking a world record.

Dublin is quickly establishing itself as a major destination for New Year’s Eve with its three day New Year’s Festival, which runs from December 30th through January 1st and offers a wealth of artistic and cultural events throughout the city. On the December 31st, gather at St. Stephen’s Green for the Procession of Light, a combination of incredible light displays and street theater, and don’t forget your bodhrán – the procession will include an attempt to break the world record for largest bodhrán session, which is currently at 980 (yes, really). Afterwards, ring in the new year with the Three Countdown Concert, featuring Dublin-based rock band The Coronas and special guest Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim.

Kerry used to have been a sleepy little town, it has become a major attraction along the Wild Atlantic Way and a wonderful New Year’s Eve destination.
