The Consulate General of Ireland in New York hosted a special event to announce the winners of the first St. Patrick’s Day Children’s Art Competition. Prize winners were named in the three age-group categories from hundreds of entries received from the tri-State area, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Consul General Noel Kilkenny has sent a special Certificate of Participation to all of the contestants. The event and competition were generously supported by the Irish Business Organisation, Irish International Business Network, the Irish Network New York City, the Aisling Irish Center, Emerald Isle Center and Jane McCarter of the New York Irish Center.

The competition was open to children between the ages of six and sixteen and was designed to further knowledge of St. Patrick and his legacy in Ireland and abroad. Intended as a way to artistically engage children with the story of St. Patrick’s Day, the competition received a great response and is expected to be continued in 2014.
