Anjelica Huston will be on hand to launch Galway University’s Huston School of Film and Digital Media. A black tie gala to raise money for student scholarships will be held May 2 at Merv Griffin’s Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The Huston Film School is set to open its doors this fall in Galway, offering courses in film and digital media at a master’s degree level, and will link with the UCLA School of Film. Said the actress, “The Huston School will ensure that Ireland continues to bring its many creative talents to a world audience.” Her father, the legendary director John Huston, was inspired by the west of Ireland and St. Clerans, their family home in Galway.

Huston was recently honored by Harvard University as the “Woman of the Year” at the college’s Hasty Pudding ceremony. On February 6, she led the parade through the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts and cheerfully endured being the subject of the annual roast.  ♦
